Weekend Itinerary
We present our proposal for a weekend in Sardinia by car .
With just 2 days in Sardinia, you can experience extraordinary emotions and create
memories that will never fade .
1st
Day
ARRIVAL IN ALGHERO
Arrival is expected at Alghero airport, where as soon as you disembark you can head to the pick-up point for your rental car .
Once the formalities are complete and you've picked up your car, we'll head to the first stop on our tour.
We will visit Stintino : in the extreme north-western tip of Sardinia, Stintino stretches out towards Asinara, almost touching it.
Right there, where it touches it, he displays his masterpiece, La Pelosa (if you stop at the beach, we remind you that reservations are required as it is a limited-access beach from June 1st to October 31st): clear and very shallow waters for dozens of meters, white and impalpable sand, dazzling and calm sea with all the shades of blue.
Next to its 'big sister', there is Pelosetta, closed by a small island overlooked by an Aragonese tower (dating back to 1578), the symbol of Pelosa.
From a 'terrace' on the 'tropical' beach, two hundred meters above sea level, you'll enjoy a unique view of Piana Island and the pristine and wild Asinara National Park.
Lunch on your own at one of the beach kiosks. In the evening, return to Alghero , where we'll check into our hotel, have dinner on your own, and spend the night.
2nd
Day
BOSA
Breakfast at the hotel and we move towards the north-west part of the island along one of the most beautiful and panoramic roads on the island, the Alghero – Bosa which will take us to one of the most beautiful villages on the island: Bosa .
A charming village where tradition and modernity blend, instilling curiosity and charm. Your first unforgettable image of Bosa will be the historic district of Sa Costa, made up of colorful houses perched on the slopes of the Serravalle hill, dominated by the Malaspina castle.
We offer you a splendid excursion circumnavigating the Temo River, one of the few navigable rivers in Sardinia, where you can admire the village in all its beauty and on board we can taste an excellent glass of Malvasia (typical local wine) and some Sardinian sweets.
Finally, we recommend a stroll through the center of Bosa , where you'll find many "open houses" where local women still demonstrate their work in filet weaving. This embroidery technique, deeply rooted in the male world of fishing, is one of the island 's oldest and most prized textiles. Its tradition has been preserved and passed down from generation to generation, thanks to older Bosa women who have passed it on to younger ones.
In fact, there is no woman in Bosa who has not learned this embroidery technique since childhood, performed with a needle on a background made of a net with large, square meshes (randa), tied together with small knots.
For lunch, we recommend a seafood lunch at Hotel Mannu , and in the afternoon, we recommend visiting one of Bosa 's wineries for a tasting and (if you wish) purchase of Malvasia: a straw-yellow DOC characterized by an intense aroma of honey and fruit.
In the evening we return to Alghero for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
3rd
Day
TOWARDS CAGLIARI
Breakfast at the hotel and we prepare to spend the last day of our trip in the Catalan town: Alghero .
Alghero is one of the liveliest and most fascinating towns in Sardinia .
This former Catalan enclave enchants us with its picturesque historic center, its mix of cultural traditions and architectural styles, and its craftsmanship linked to the creation of elaborate jewelry made from its world-famous coral.
Starting from the picturesque old town located on an imposing bastion and continuing to the port rich in tradition and a long beach, you can perceive here a unique atmosphere, which has a lot to do with the history of this city, the fifth largest in Sardinia .
The Sardinian inhabitants were replaced by the Catalans – and for this reason – even today the old inhabitants of Alghero speak Algherese , a Catalan dialect.
For a quick lunch, we recommend Focacceria del Milese; a delicious focaccia you won't find anywhere else on earth... if you'd like a more leisurely lunch, we recommend trying Signor Domenico's excellent cuisine at Il Pavone restaurant.
Finally, we'll head to Cagliari airport in time to complete the rental car return formalities and return to our original location.
